This is a space for me to share real talk on family growth, working toward second changes, and giving grace during sustained and tremendous loss.
Hi, here I am known as Oranges Mcgee but as some of you may realize, I am known by my adoptive parents given name, Rebecca. I am a Korean-American adoptee, mom to an incredible and very active (at the time of this writing on July 20, 2026) 6 year old boy, and someone who has spent most of my life unpacking childhood trauma while building a life that feels secure and purposeful.
Also, for most of my life, I've kept these pieces compartmentalized -- separate by design: the cognitive neuroscience Ph.D., investment strategies, deep-dives into attachment and neurodiversity, and the quiet work of healing significant CPTSD while trying to parent differently. But I've realize these threads are connected; and they might help you too.
This blog is my space to explore. Expect honest reflections on:
Trauma informed parenting and breaking generational patterns with practical scripts and stories.
Navigating family neurodiversity boundaries and secure attachment.
Midlife career pivots -- under extreme initial development phase
Possibly real-estate investing, though this is a side gig of a side gig.
And turning personal experiences into something useful.
Just as life unfolds, this is a process--learning to set boundaries after years of fawning, supporting my son through school transitions, flat feet adventures, and co-creating tools to help myself for wellness and productivity. If you're a fellow mom, adoptee, trauma survivior, or someone in transition, I hope these posts feel like a compassionate companion.
Healing isn't linear but sharing it can make the path feel less lonely. I'd love to hear from you: what brought you here? what are you navigating right now?

Here's to growth, one blog post at a time.
