Discover Oranges McGee Writes

I am a Korean-American adoptee and a cognitive neuroscientist. This blog is about the demand many of us grew up with: hold one story, live another. The authorized version said belonging was settled. The true one included a missing first chapter and a house where naming the gap made you the problem.

I write about how that split lives in the brain and in adult life: attachment, parenting, friendship, identity, and the work of refusing to abandon the true account so the official one can stay tidy.

When Both Stories Are Allowed

Growth starts when the two stories are allowed in the same room. Here you will find research-backed writing on adoption and autobiographical memory, secure parenting, boundaries, and breaking cycles without performing gratitude. Practical where it can be. Precise where it has to be.
